Venturing into the insane world of Warcraft III mods It's been more than seven years since Blizzard released Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and yet here I am playing the real-time strategy with as. May 09, 2016 In general, VR is a gimmick, it's just like the Xbox Kinect, the Wii-mote, or Playstation Move. Fads which died asap and the general masses never cared about. So it would be a waste of time, resources, and effort for Blizzard to develop support for a Fad device which will die off and no-one will care about and very few currently use/own.

WoW in VR is just a gimmick, the game becomes a joke when this happens. Just go watch people trying to play wow with the Occulus Rift on youtube. It's a mess, and they only are able to kill things my accident most of the time, especially since this game wasn't made to be played in first person view.
Which is why noone does so even though you can do it right now without a VR headset. In general, VR is a gimmick, it's just like the Xbox Kinect, the Wii-mote, or Playstation Move. I can agree that WoW in VR isn't quite right. However, that's where I quit agreeing with you.
WoW itself is meant to be played in third person, which is not where VR excels nor does it do any third person game justice. VR is meant strictly for first person content (duh). I'm assuming you don't own a VR headset, because if you did, you wouldn't call it a gimmick. Watching YouTube videos of people using it ≠ having used it. After playing Minecraft on my Gear VR for a few hours I can tell you that gaming is going to happen on that platform sooner rather than later.
The 'immersiveness' in the world was unmatched by any other platform of gaming. It truly was awe-inspiring. This doesn't take into account all of the video content already available for the Gear VR as well as a decent library of games and more coming out every week it seems like. The technology is in it's infancy still, but with some more time on the market and more developers committing to create VR capable games, it will become a mature product and I'm assuming replace the need for other home entertainment equipment at some point in the future.

Some friends and I did Mythic dungeons in first person a month or so back, was pretty awesome. Obviously it looked bad because it doesn't show your limbs or weapons and casting animations are just big blobs covering the center of your screen and you have to look straight down to check if you're standing in bad and the FOV is like 40 and so on and so on.
But it was honestly kind of interesting anyway. You see everything from a different perspective, got to see some new views we'd never seen even though WoD is like a year and a half old. If WoW was VR compatible I'd definitely quest / level using it. Obviously using it in endgame group content would just be a detriment. 10:24 AMPosted by If WoW was VR compatible I'd definitely quest / level using it.

This is what I would use it for. I have a lot of fun taking my time levelling and exploring everything.

Doing so in VR would be awesome. I already play a lot in first person, it works just fine. Sure, it is not optimal, but it is a different experience. I think what people don't realize is that with a proper setup, VR basically tricks your brain into processing the images as 'real.' The immersion is just insane, it's something Blizzard should definitely look into.
