In Half-Life 2 and its Episodes, Striders never use their legs to kill the player. However, if played in Garry's Mod, and the player gets too close, they will kill using their long legs (only the Striders that's spawned by the map, not the ones spawned by the players).
- Half-Life 2: Episode 3 reconstruction Project Borealis has beautiful striders, arctic headcrabs. It made it through a half-decade of development and actually released in a semi-finished state.

AT 30,000 FEET. You are almost 6 miles (9.7 km's) above sea level. The human body is not made for these conditions. Temperatures can plummet to -60F (-51C), the brain is starved for oxygen and each step is a new experience in pure agony. It's difficult to breathe. It's difficult to think.
It's difficult to move. And you still have to endure another 444 feet (0.14 km's) to get to the peak. So much for the good news.STORYLINE: SURVIVE the SUMMIT.The rebels are losing the battle against the strider onslaught that keeps growing.
To help turn the tide of war you need to destroy the source of the Striders. That source is at the summit of what the rebels call, StriderMountain. There is only one way to get into the mountain geography and it's extremely dangerous terrain.
The danger proves to be too much and you are forced way off target. Now, you must fight your way through the Combine Mountain Base Camp because it's the only entry to the mountain. As Gordon Freeman, you must survive the summit and destroy the source of the Striders. This is a FIX for the HAVING NO WHEELS BUG.FIX;-Install the mod StriderMountainV3 as usual, (install in Sourcemods folder).-then DELETE the entire vehicle folder.(StriderMountainV3StriderMountainRev2scriptsvehicles)-install now the mods latest patch StriderMountainFix110515(DON'T delete this vehicle folder!!!!!)(when you have the mod already installed you don't need to re-install, just delete the vehicle folder and install the patch 'StriderMountainFix110515' again, or look below which files need to be deleted.
I love this mod. It is made with love, the voice acting is brilliant, and it's a really good substitute for half life 3.having said that, however, nothing is perfect. Here are a few problems i found:#1: in some places, its pretty easy to break the map, by jumping somewhere you aren't supposed to, or completely skipping sections.#2: some of the puzzles aren't very intuitive, and they contradict what we have learnt in previous puzzles. For example, the same sound used for doors that can't open is also used for some doors that can open.#3: the music is a little overused.#4: the enemies are a little spammy at points.#5: i downloaded EVERY portal data TWICE, and it still didn't unlock the bonus map:(apart from that, this mod is excellent!

Half Life 2 Follow Freeman Striders Rockets
I still had to learn a whole lot back then so there are indeed many issues with this mod. It does however surprise me very much that you couldn't play the bonus map because the first release of this mod you really needed to download all data before you did get the bonus map. But after that i changed it and now it doesn't matter if you have downloaded all data or not, you always get the bonus map at the end. Did this because many people complained back then that it was to hard to find all datat.
So, it seems you have played that older version but that one isn't avaleble anymore to the public. So it is a real mistery to me. You can always start the bonus map manually, through console also if you still which to play it.Maybe you are interested in my other mods? You talked about it being a good substitute for HL3, well, after this mod i made a Episode 3 The Closure mod, which is some sort of a ep3 or HL3 if you which to call it like that. Half Life 2 Spider
Well it didn’t stutter, it was a lower spec PC back then! Gameplay was just as good as before but so much easier than I remember. Playing “Episode 3” yes the first version cured my poor marksmanship issues!Strider Mountain is really a stand out achievement among the other epic mods out there, although trying to jump the jeep with two wheels in the bonus maps in a laugh!And now there’s a fix! Grrrrrrrrrr!Killing combine is so much fun Than you all involved in this classic.
